So service sucks in that madhouse, so I am going to recap at the end of the day. This will be in SOME sort of order as I walked around the exhibits, but today really helped me get the lay of the land. Honestly, with e3 now open to the public, it becomes a bit of a drag. Us veterans get mad at the "green passers". The lines are much longer, and the organizers seem a bit frazzled. Lots of Leeroy Jenkins going on.
Instead of waiting in the insane line ride, I checked out some art in a gallery.
So Destiny 2 was the first stop. Duh. I waited in the normal line for about 30 minutes. Then I got smart and hit up my Activision PR contact. He got me and brought me to the media area. I got to play the game mode Countdown with the worst team ever. Literally two players weren't playing. I went 1.14 k/d, got to use Arc Strider subclass (i didnt really know how to do anything but melee), and learned a few things. Nades are not one shots in PVP. It took three melee hunters to take a guardian down from full health. Tomorrow I will play The Inverted Spire strike and hopefully a titan/warlock. Definitely going back.
Okay so this is important to me. Quake 3 arena basically shaped me into the gamer I am today. It introduced me to modding, map making, and a plethora of other things. OF COURSE I had to play. The line moved slow and the game crashed. In fact I had to wait for another round because my build crashed. I was teamed up with kids. I went 9 and 9. It felt SO GOOD to play again, and fresh. They pull fans out to play pros, so hopefully tomorrow that'll be me. Also, if your team wins, you get a quake hat. I NEED THAT HAT.
I'll check out Marvel vs Capcom Infinite for sure. Was just walking by this.
As for Nintendo I have to check out what they are demoing. Last year I waited four hours. I'll wait a little bit of time for the new Mario game, but other than that its not worth it. Tho the area ALWAYS looks cool. May be worth it for schwag.
Okay, so the South Hall is basically the public hall. The West Hall is what I call the RSVP hall. It is dominated by Sony, and you use their Playstation Experience app to book appointments for games. Today I was lucky enough to get Gran Turismo Sport VR. I had to spam click the app when registration opened up. Typically 930am, 1pm, and 2pm. If you dont get a QR code you're out of luck. Tomorrow I will be trying for Destiny, Battlefront II, and maybe another VR. Overall Gran Turismo was Gran Turismo. Having a steering wheel and VR set was really nice, but honestly I feel its a better game without VR. Not much difference in this game, which isnt a bad thing because its a racing simulator.
That's it from me folks! Today I got the lay of the land, played 3 titles, and took in the glory of the public e3. Tomorrow I go early and try to cram as much in as I can in one day. Check back for updates. Now in true gamer fashion, time to go game more!!!!
